Hidden places in the heart of Athens – Herbs & spices shop
Three days ago, while I was going to a meeting, I realized that I had some more spare time, so I decided to follow another direction that it was new to me. I am always a person that loves to explore and find new streets and neighborhoods. Besides this is one of the reasons why I love Athens so much. You get to know so many hidden places in the heart of the city that you didn’t know about their existence and makes you feel amazing.

This new road that I took leaded me to a herbs & spices shop, where it’s owner Mr. Bachlas welcomes you with a warm and wide smile. Straight after, it felt like I was transferred to another decade.
In Athens there are many little shops like this one. Even though, what captivated my attention was the beautiful and colorful display that looked like a painting.

Nothing was really placed in the right order. It was given you the feeling that all the products were arranged thoroughly untidy. In overall all this mess creates a remarkable impression.
The combination of flavors and all the different colors make this place so unique. While I was looking around, I observed that there wasn’t something fancy about this shop. Neither one should expect deli wraps or expensive packaging, but in my eyes everything seemed so authentic and original.

The most interesting thing is that the owner is so gentle and friendly. Although I stopped him from his lunch break, he was really into explaining me about the nutritious benefits and variable uses of herbs and spices. He shared with me as well his precious knowledge about their importance for our body and mind. If you want to smell the fresh oregano and learn how to choose the right tea for you, then this place is an ideal choice.
